General Warranty Policy


Effective date: 09/01/2025

Applies to: Products supplied by Approved Hydraulics Limited (“Approved Hydraulics”, “we”, “us”, “our”) to the original purchaser (“you”, “customer”).


1) Purpose

This policy explains the warranty coverage available on eligible products supplied by Approved Hydraulics Limited, including warranty periods, what is covered, exclusions, and how to make a claim.

2) Warranty periods (1 year and 2 years)

Approved Hydraulics provides warranty coverage against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for the periods below, subject to the conditions in this policy.

A. Two-year warranty (24 months)

A 2-year warranty applies to selected products or product lines as stated on the quotation, order acknowledgement, invoice, product datasheet, packaging or website.

B. One-year warranty (12 months) – conditional

A 1-year warranty applies to products not covered by the 2-year warranty, and/or to certain items where coverage is subject to conditions such as correct installation, commissioning, maintenance, and use (see Section 5).

Important: The warranty period that applies to a specific item is the one explicitly stated on the sales documentation or product literature for that item.

3) When coverage starts

Unless otherwise stated in writing, the warranty period begins on the date of delivery to the customer (or collection date where applicable).

4) What the warranty covers

If a product fails due to a defect in materials or workmanship during the applicable warranty period, Approved Hydraulics will, at its option:

  • Repair the product, or
  • Replace the product (or the defective part), or
  • Refund the original purchase price of the defective product (or the defective part) if repair/replacement is not reasonably available. Repaired or replaced items may be new or reconditioned and will be warranted for the remainder of the original warranty period unless local law requires otherwise.
5) Warranty conditions (applies to all warranties; especially important for 1-year conditional items)

Warranty coverage is provided only when all of the following conditions are met:

  1. Correct installation & commissioning
    Product must be installed and commissioned according to Approved Hydraulics instructions and generally accepted industry practice.
  2. Proper use
    Product must be used only for its intended purpose and within stated ratings (pressure, flow, temperature, duty cycle, contamination class, electrical limits, etc.).Maintenance & contamination control
    Routine maintenance must be performed as recommended, including filtration requirements, cleanliness standards, and fluid specifications.
  3. No unauthorised modification or repair
    Product must not be modified, disassembled, repaired, or altered by anyone other than Approved Hydraulics or an authorised service provider, unless Approved Hydraulics provides written approval.
  4. Traceability & proof of purchase
    Serial numbers/labels must remain intact. Customer must provide proof of purchase and relevant product identifiers.
  5. Timely notification
    Customer must notify Approved Hydraulics promptly after discovery of a suspected defect and follow the claims process in Section 8.
6) What is not covered (exclusions)

This warranty does not cover failures or damage resulting from:

  1. Normal wear and tear (including seals, wipers, bearings, hoses, belts, filters, and other consumables)
  2. Incorrect installation, poor commissioning, or operation outside specifications
  3. Contamination (dirt/water/metal particles), incorrect fluid type/viscosity, insufficient filtration, or poor system cleanliness
  4. Misuse, negligence, abuse, accidents, impacts, corrosion, or improper storage
  5. Over-pressure, cavitation, dry running, overheating, electrical surges, or inadequate cooling/lubrication
  6. Unauthorised repairs/modifications, tampering, or removal of identification labels
  7. Damage caused by other components in the system (e.g., pump failure sending debris through a valve)
  8. Cosmetic damage that does not affect function
  9. Any product sold as used, refurbished, clearance, as-is, or non-warranty (unless explicitly stated otherwise)
  10. Third-party products where the manufacturer’s warranty applies (we will assist with the process where reasonable)
7) Costs and logistics

Unless agreed otherwise in writing:

  1. Labour: Warranty covers the product remedy (repair/replace/refund) but does not automatically include on-site labour, removal/reinstallation time, or commissioning costs.
  2. Shipping/transport: Customer is responsible for shipping the product to Approved Hydraulics (or nominated service location). Approved Hydraulics will return repaired/replacement product by standard method within the UK (or as otherwise agreed). Expedited shipping costs are chargeable.
  3. Downtime and consequential loss: See Section 10.
8) How to make a warranty claim (RMA process)

To submit a claim, contact Approved Hydraulics and provide:

  1. Customer name, address, contact details
  2. Proof of purchase (invoice/order number)
  3. Product details (part number, serial number, description)
  4. Failure description (symptoms, when it occurred, operating conditions)
  5. Photos/videos where helpful
  6. System details where relevant (pressure, fluid type, filtration, contamination findings)
    Approved Hydraulics will issue a Return Material Authorisation (RMA) number (where required). Products returned without an RMA may be delayed or refused.

 Returned items should be:

  1. Cleaned and drained of fluid where safe and lawful to do so
  2. Packaged securely to prevent transit damage
  3. Clearly marked with the RMA number and customer details
9) Inspection and decision

All warranty claims are subject to inspection and, where needed, testing. If inspection shows the issue is not covered (e.g., contamination, misuse), we will provide a report and may offer a quote for repair/replacement. If no action is authorised within a reasonable period, storage and/or return shipping charges may apply.

10) Limitations of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  1. Approved Hydraulics is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, including loss of profit, loss of production, loss of contract, downtime costs, or loss arising from system shutdown.
  2. Approved Hydraulics’ total liability under this warranty will not exceed the purchase price paid for the affected product.
11) Statutory rights

Nothing in this policy limits any rights you may have under applicable consumer or commercial protection laws. Where local laws provide mandatory rights, those rights take precedence.

12) Policy updates

Approved Hydraulics may update this policy from time to time. The version in effect on the date of purchase applies unless otherwise required by law.
